Frame the question, shuffle and read the conversation between the cards.
Reading tarot isn't guessing card by card, but listening to the conversation between them all. Here are the steps.
The best questions are open and about you: "what do I need to see about this situation?", "how can I approach this?". Avoid guessing what another person will do or asking for exact dates. If it's a closed question, use the yes-or-no spread.
As you shuffle and pick, keep the question present. There's no correct way: what matters is the intention, not the ritual.
First look at what each card says in its position. Then step back: what story do they tell together? Is a suit repeating, are there many majors, a clear tension? That whole-picture reading is the real interpretation.
Question: "How do I approach this job change?". You get the 8 of Pentacles (past), the Tower (present) and the Star (future). Don't read them as three loose lines: they say you were building with effort, something has been shaken, and if you let go of what wasn't holding, a hopeful, guided chapter opens. One story, not three.
A reading ends when you can say what you'll do differently. If nothing changes in how you see your question, read it again calmly. And remember: the card accompanies, it doesn't command.
If someone asks you for a reading, tarot works the same way, with two cares. First, the question is theirs: ask them to think it and, if they want, to say it out loud; you draw and read for that question. Second, read with respect and without pronouncing verdicts: describe what you see as possibilities and options, never as a ruling on their life or on other people. Give questions back (does this resonate? where do you feel it?) instead of closed statements. And remember: you only read for another person with their permission.
